You win!

3–2

Six against six on a big green pitch. Doodle and five dino friends run, pass and shoot at the goal on the right while a rival team tries to score in theirs. The camera follows the ball, a tiny map shows the whole pitch, and gift boxes pop up with funny items: a rocket ball, a crow that steals the ball, banana peels, a giant ball and freeze. Four teams are waiting, and the champions are a real match for grown-ups too.

How to play

  1. Run to the ball.

Drag on the left side of the picture to run, or use the arrows. You always run the player nearest the ball, with a yellow ring.

  2. Pass, then shoot!

Tap Pass to send the ball to a team-mate. Hold Shoot to power up, and let go to kick at the goal on the right.

  3. Grab gift boxes!

Run over a gift box to get a funny item, then tap Item. Make a rocket, call a crow or drop banana peels!

Controls

Touch
Drag anywhere on the left half to run: a stick appears under your thumb. On the right: Shoot (hold to power up), Pass and Item.
Mouse
Drag on the left half of the picture to run, and use the buttons on the right. The keys work too.
Keyboard
← ↑ ↓ → or W A S D run, X passes, Space shoots (hold to power up), Z uses your item, P or Esc pauses.
Defending
Pass switches to the team-mate nearest the ball. Shoot slides in to poke the ball away: miss, and you sit for a moment.

Moves to learn

  • Dribble. The ball sticks to your feet while you run. A rival who gets close in front of you can win it.
  • Pass. Point toward a team-mate and tap Pass. A blocked pass flies over rivals’ heads. Control jumps to who gets it.
  • Power shot. Hold Shoot while you run at the goal, then let go. Full power from far out can rise over the bar; a little less stays low and fast.
  • Slide tackle. Press Shoot near a rival who has the ball. Time it well; a miss slides past and sits.
  • Switch. When the other team has the ball, tap Pass to run the team-mate nearest it.

Funny items

Rocket ball
Your next shot gets a rocket strapped on. It flies dead straight and super fast, and blasts the keeper back into the net with the ball.
Crow
A crow swoops down, snatches the ball and drops it at your striker’s feet.
Banana peels
Three peels land behind you. Anyone who runs over one slips and spins, and the peels disappear after 16 seconds.
Giant ball
For 8 seconds the ball is huge: hard to stop, it bumps players aside and a keeper can only swat it.
Freeze
The other team turns into ice blocks for 2 seconds. You can run past them, and the ball bounces off them.

Gift boxes pop up on the pitch now and then. Each team holds one item at a time, and the scoreboard shows what each side has. Now and then a wild crow steals a loose ball and drops it somewhere else, and a cow may wander across the pitch. Moo!

Four teams

Team Bun
Easy, at the park. Bunnies who are slow, shoot from close and leave plenty of room. They never use gift boxes. 2 minutes.
Team Kiki
Medium, at the beach. Cats who shoot from afar and grab gift boxes, though not at clever moments. 3 minutes.
Team Bruno
Hard, at the snowy field. Bears who press you in twos, shoot hard, step around banana peels and time their items. 3 minutes.
Team Bolt
Champion, at the floodlit stadium at night. Robots who see everything, pass and shoot with hardly a miss, and use every item at the best moment. 4 minutes.

One half; if it’s a tie when time is up, the next goal wins (a golden goal). Each team you beat gets a trophy. There are no fouls and no offside: when the ball goes out, a player walks to it and restarts by himself.

Tips for big players

  • Pass early. Two or three rivals press you close in front of the ball. Pass to the open team-mate and run into space.
  • Shoot at the corners. The keeper stands in the middle and dives late. Aim for a corner, a little wide of him, and power up as you run.
  • Keep the ball low. A shot hit with full power from half way up the pitch can sail over the bar. A little less power stays low and fast.
  • Save a rocket for the box. It flies straight, so aim at the goal from the middle of the pitch and let go.
  • Mind the banana peels. Smart teams step around them. Drop yours behind you when a rival is chasing.

What kids practice

  • Teamwork. Passing to a team-mate who is open, and running into space.
  • Timing. Powering up a shot, and sliding in at the right moment.
  • Planning ahead. Choosing when to use a funny item.

For grown-ups

Doodle team football has no ads, no accounts and no trackers. Wins, goals and funny items are saved only in this browser on this device. Sound stays off until your child turns it on with the speaker button. Nobody gets hurt: slips, ice blocks and rocket knocks are cartoon-soft, and the game says things like “So close!” and “A tie! High five!”.

With reduced motion turned on in the device’s settings, shakes, slow motion and confetti are left out. Team Bun runs a little slower than your players and never picks up gift boxes, so it grows with your child.

Questions

Is Doodle team football free?

Yes. All four teams are free to play in the browser, with no ads, no sign-up and nothing to download.

Can a young child play it?

Yes. Against Team Bun the rivals are slow and often miss, your team-mates help and pass to you, and there are no rules to learn: no fouls, no offside, and the ball restarts by itself when it goes out. A match lasts 2 minutes.

How hard is the champion team?

Very. Team Bolt sees the ball almost at once, passes and shoots accurately, presses you with two players, has a keeper who dives early, and uses its gift boxes at the best moment. Your own team-mates help, but a match lasts 4 minutes, and a tie goes to a golden goal.

Can two people play?

Not in this game yet. For two on one screen, try Doodle football, the one-on-one head football game.
